re:HELLIONS has been a work in progress for years, in my head.  You see, I was a big fan of Generation X back in the day before Wikipedia and such.  So to get the backstory on Emma Frost and her previous team, I had to dig through piles of comics and hope that the comic book store had the issue I was looking for and then spend what little of spending money I had on these vintage issues.  By doing this, I would force myself to absorb each issue to get my money’s worth.

I grew to appreciate her former team, the Hellions, even though they were only in like 10 issues before being killed off.  They were never really explored because they were meant to be foils for the New Mutant characters, and I think that is where I fell in love with them.  These characters had so much potential, so much life, yet they were tossed aside to allow Emma to evolve into something more than a just a femme fatal.  So, I kept on thinking about them.  And their lives developed in my head.  For 15+ years…  (Yes, this may just be madness…)

I have written my interpretation of them.  I was flopping back and forth between thinly veiling it as a “different” story or making a fan comic, always in fear of Marvel shutting me down.  I went with the fan comic because this is their story.  It’s set in the present day and in the RVA (Richmond, VA) area because I don’t get New York City.  Influenced by manga, it takes place in a parallel universe (Universe 1337, yeah, I did that) to allow for some twists and so that I’m not encumbered by 60-70+ years of Marvel mythos.

Please, enjoy.
